A Gift for You! Free pattern and colouring project!

Hi there everyone! Such exciting news today, about an amazing designer-maker-illustrator called Florencia. You have to check her out! She goes by the name Ullvuna, and she is wonderful! Once I'd seen her work (I'm talking stunning tapestry crochet and she's also rather well-known in the pin loom world for her work, including a book called 100 Pin Loom Squares), I had to get involved. Here's her blog:

Ullvuna Blog

Anyway, she wanted to offer a free crochet pattern and colouring project for you all, I mean what an incredible gesture. What with the state of the world right now, I'm all for sharing creativity so I said yes. Immediately! Florencia lives thousands of miles away in Chile, so this is an international project!!

So, we set about it. I offered my Starflower pattern, which is a beautiful hexagon motif with a big flower in the middle, as the name suggests. Florencia made the pattern into a colouring diagram, and also made her own hexagon- I love this picture of her!

...And here are the hexies I made... you can make a few and join them to make a little baby blanket or a throw for cold winter evenings...

... AND here's what the colouring page looks like!

So, if you'd like all this lovely creative joy for free, just click HERE for the downloadable pdf.

With love from me in the UK and the lovely Florencia many many miles away. Reaching out across the world to collaborate! That's creativity at its finest I think. I hope one day Florencia and I might meet. I need to give that woman a hug... when hugs are back on the menu...

HOPE

This doesn't need much introduction...

Here's the free pattern for my HOPE design; it comes from a deep need to connect with you all, to create, to cling onto what hope we can in these strange times. Creativity goes hand in hand with hope... I hope the making of this brings you some happiness, and I hope wherever your HOPE design ends up (for you, for a loved one, for the community) it brings a ray of positivity.
Use #hopecushion on the socials so we can all see your beautiful work!
Please respect my work, always credit me (redsparrowcrochet) when you post pics, do not pass this design off as your own or sell the pattern. Respect for designers always please!

I’ve used a 4.5mm hook and Scheepjes Colour Crafter yarn, but any dk is fine. It's a great stash-buster, you can go for it with any colours!
This makes a cushion cover approx. 50 x 30cm with gauge: 16 sts and 22 rows measuring 10 x 10cm over dc.

Abbreviations (UK Crochet Terms)
approx. approximately
ch(s) chains(s) or chain stitch(es)
ch-1 sp(s) chain 1 space(s): number denotes number of chains in chain space
ch-sp(s) chain space(s)
dc double crochet
lp(s) loop(s)
rep repeat
RS right side
sp(s) space(s)
st(s) stitch(es)
tr treble crochet
WS wrong side
yoh yarn over hook

Repeats
(........) once/twice/3 times Work the instructions between brackets the total number of times stated.

Special Stitches
cc change colour
mtr mosaic treble crochet: work tr as normal but work it in skipped st of same colour 3 rows below, working st in front of intervening 2 rows of chs in contrast colour. All mtr stitches are worked on RS of work

Pattern Notes
This pattern uses mosaic crochet techniques:
Change colour (cc) every 2 rows. To change colour, work last st of row in old colour to final 2 lps on hook, yoh with new colour and draw new colour through lps on hook to finish. Continue with new colour.
The first row of a colour creates the pattern, the second row reinforces it. Where a dc or a tr is made in the first row, a dc is made in this st in the second row (make sure to work into all tr sts from the first row as they can easily be missed). Where a ch-sp is made in the first row, the same ch-sp is made in the second row.
Work all tr sts (referred to as ‘mtr’- see Special Stitches) into ‘skipped’ sts 3 rows below.

Instructions
Note: Keep your background colour ‘Yarn A’ attached throughout. Work 2 rows of each rainbow colour where indicated, and fasten off at end of those 2 rows.

Emma's Throw now in Spanish!

Hi everyone! I am so thrilled to announce my free Emma's Throw pattern is now here in Spanish! Muchas gracias to the wonderful Ramona from @atelierriv for all her hard work and kindness. So, here we are, Manta Emma en español!

Materiales necesarios:

- cualquier lana DK. Yo he usado Scheepjes Colour Crafter. Hacen falta 35 cuadrados (5x7).
- ganchillo de 5 mm, tijeras y aguja lanera

Tensión:
No es esencial para este proyecto.

Dimensiones:
Cada cuadrado mide aprox. 22 x 22 cm bloqueado.
La manta mide aprox. 118 x 162 cm después de añadir el borde.

Abreviaciones:
- cad – cadeneta
- pb – punto bajo
- pa – punto alto o vareta
- pad – punto alto doble
- pd – punto deslizado o raso
-V - vuelta

¡Gracias!
